The Hisarönü Gulf by cabin cruise: a week from Bodrum without chartering a whole yacht

Not every group needs a whole yacht. This weekly cabin cruise lets couples and small groups enjoy the same coastline as a private gulet charter, sailing around the Datça Peninsula and the Hisarönü Gulf on an elegant, modern motor sailer.

The route

You board in Bodrum on Saturday from 15:30, with time to see St Peter's Castle before sailing to the first bay for a swim and dinner. Palamutbükü comes next, then Aktur Bay, at the narrowest point of the Datça Peninsula, and pine-framed Bencik Bay.

Day four takes in Emel Sayın, the Kızkumu sandbar at Orhaniye and the stone village of Selimiye. Bozburun, home of traditional gulet building, and sheltered Dirsekbükü follow. Day six brings Datça and ancient Knidos with its Temple of Aphrodite, and the last full day the hot springs of Kara Island and the turquoise water of Orak Island. You disembark in Bodrum by 10:00.

The yachts

The cruise sails on Elara 1, a 42-metre motor sailer with 12 air-conditioned cabins and a jacuzzi, or on Freedom, a 30-metre classic gulet with six cabins, depending on the week.
