This route is for travellers who want a different side of Greece: islands of rich history, remarkable light and warm hospitality, still largely untouched by mass tourism.
The route
The week begins with sunset cocktails and a welcome dinner beneath the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. Ikaria, the island of longevity, follows, with a swim, a barbecue lunch and natural thermal springs. On Patmos you visit the Grotto and Monastery of Saint John, both UNESCO sites, then sail to Lipsi to taste its Aposperitis red wine.
Kalymnos is the island of the sponge divers, with the Esperidon fjord nearby. On Amorgos you learn to make Psimeni Raki with locals and visit the cliffside monastery of Chozoviotissa. Koufonisia and Iraklia offer kayaking to sea caves, and Serifos ends the week before a farewell dinner on the way back to Athens.
