Croatia and Montenegro by small yacht: a 2027 guide to the Adriatic islands

Most Adriatic cruises race between the famous harbours. This one slows down. Over seven nights from Dubrovnik, a boutique yacht carrying just 34 guests follows a quieter course through the Dalmatian islands, with swim stops almost every day and a signature day in Montenegro's Bay of Kotor.

The route

You board M/Y Callisto at Gruž Port in Dubrovnik from 14:00 and begin with a guided walk through the UNESCO-listed Old Town. The next day brings the pine-covered Elaphiti Islands and Mljet, where the salt lakes of the National Park are included. Korčula follows, a walled medieval town and home of the rare Grk grape, then remote Lastovo, a Nature Park with some of the clearest water of the week.

On Vis, long closed to visitors, you call at the fishing village of Komiža, with an optional boat trip to the Blue Cave on Biševo. Hvar and the Pakleni Islands add a touch of glamour, and an overnight sail brings you into the Bay of Kotor for a guided walk through Kotor's medieval lanes and the Captain's Farewell Dinner. You disembark in Dubrovnik at 09:00 on day eight.

The yacht

M/Y Callisto is a 50-metre motor yacht, launched in 2000, refitted in 2016 and renovated in 2022. Her 17 outside cabins sit on the Main and Lower Decks, each with an en-suite shower, air conditioning and a window or porthole. A crew of 16 looks after 34 guests, roughly one for every two people, and Wi-Fi is complimentary.
