Rovaniemi and Saariselkä: a private island, then glass igloos under the aurora
This escape moves between two of Finnish Lapland’s signature regions: Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle, and Saariselkä further north, known for some of the clearest Northern Lights conditions in Europe.
The first three nights are spent at Aino Private Island, an adults-only retreat on the Kemijoki river with seven suites, four deluxe rooms and a private villa. Days here are built around a reindeer farm with lunch in a traditional Kota hut, a private Northern Lights hunt and a private husky safari.
A private transfer then carries you north to Aurora Queen Resort, a new family-owned resort of glass-ceiling aurora igloos. The pace shifts to snowmobiling, snowshoeing and a private Finnish sauna and jacuzzi to close each day.
