Family offices are becoming more global, and their travel is following. A study published on 1 October by Airbus Corporate Jets, carried out by the research firm Pureprofile, surveyed 73 senior family office executives managing a combined $303 billion.
The key findings
- 96% say their use of private aircraft has increased over the past two years, and all expect it to keep rising
- Nearly 70% have opened offices in new jurisdictions in the past five years
- 90% cite family members living in different countries as a reason to expand
- 89% save two to three hours per trip compared with flying commercially
- 67% say a quarter to half of their private trips go to places with no direct commercial service
The study was commissioned by an aircraft manufacturer and the sample is small, so the numbers are best read as a direction of travel rather than a market forecast.
What is behind it
The pattern is familiar to anyone who works with globally mobile families. When a family has members in London, Dubai and Singapore, investments in three more countries and children at school in a fourth, travel stops being occasional. It becomes a weekly logistics question, and the value of a private flight is measured in hours saved and meetings kept, not in comfort alone.
Respondents ranked flexibility to work in the air, control of the schedule and privacy above speed. That matches what we see: the trip that matters most is often the one to a secondary airport near a factory, a vineyard or a school, not the one between two capitals.
How we help
We arrange private jets, helicopters and the ground travel around them as part of a family's wider lifestyle management, from a single urgent flight to a season of recurring trips, with payment in fiat or crypto.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to own a jet to fly private regularly?
No. Charter, jet cards and fractional ownership all offer access without owning an aircraft. We can explain the options for your pattern of travel.
Can several family members share one arrangement?
Yes. We can manage travel for a whole family or family office under one relationship.
